Waitlist privacy notice
Last updated: October 2026. This notice covers the pre-launch waitlist only. A full privacy policy, covering report uploads, will be published before uploads open.
Who we are
Dipstick Data is a planned, brand-neutral oil and grease reference. We're pre-launch and using this waitlist to gauge interest. Contact us at hello@dipstickdata.com.
What we collect
- Your email address (required).
- Optional answers: how many machines you track and what kinds.
- Which planned plan you tapped "I'd pay for this" on, if any.
- Page details: which headline version you saw and the site or campaign that sent you (for example, a forum link), so we can tell which messages and communities are working.
We don't ask for your name, address, phone number, payment details or lab reports. Please don't send us lab reports or personal information by email while uploads aren't open.
How we use it
- To confirm your sign-up (double opt-in) and email you about Dipstick Data's launch and progress, including the planned founding-member discount.
- To count interest in aggregate (for example, how many people track five or more machines) and decide whether and what to build.
We will never sell your information or share it with oil brands, labs or advertisers.
Who processes it for us
Sign-ups are stored by our email service provider, which sends the confirmation and launch emails on our behalf under its own security and privacy terms. Our site host serves the pages and may keep standard technical logs. If site analytics are turned on, we use a privacy-friendly, cookie-free service that counts visits and button clicks in aggregate and doesn't identify you.
Cookies and local storage
This site doesn't set advertising or tracking cookies. It uses your browser's local storage to remember the plan you tapped, the headline version you saw and the referring campaign, so they can be included if you sign up. That data stays in your browser unless you submit the form.
How long we keep it
Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If we decide not to build Dipstick Data, we'll send a final email and delete the waitlist.
Your choices
- Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Email hello@dipstickdata.com to see, correct or delete what we hold about you.
Children
The waitlist isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this notice changes, we'll update the date above. We'll email the waitlist about any significant change.
